Ya tengo un aรฑo en misiรณn ?? Cรณmo es posible??

It's kind of a long one this time...sorry not sorry haha

[Editor's note: it's even longer because someone hasn't kept up on posting these blogs. Lo siento]

There have been some super cool experiences these past couple days. You can probably tell by the title of this email.

Well to start, we were all able to watch a movie this week as a mission again. We watched Spirit of the Game. It was pretty cheesy and confusing because it’s about missionaries serving in Australia. But they didn’t even have tags on. So red flag...they were just JW’s the whole time I guess. Haha

But they started a basketball league for Australia and started playing teams from all around the world and beat them. One of the games was against France and they beat them by one point.. But then France wanted a rematch because their coach was a sore loser. So they agreed, anyway boring story short they are in this huge arena and they are up by one point with like 15 seconds left on the clock and France had possession. So tFrance literally dribbled down court and scored. Game over. Missionaries lost. And the movie ended basically. I was ticked. What a crappy ending hahaha. It just goes to show that missionaries will always have the hard way out in life and in basketball. Hahaha Al they cared about was the Spirit of the Game. Which they mentioned one time during the last five minutes of the game. Hahaha I’m grateful our Mission president allows us to watch some movies. It’s pretty nice, even if they are cheesy church ones. A blessing is a blessing.

Anyway one thing that I did this week was go through Facebook and found a ton of “friends”( but like not really) friends on Facebook. I took screenshots of like over 45 people and sent them to the missionaries serving in my home ward. I hope they are able to find some people with interest in saving their souls, I know a lot of people in our town need it...KIDDING. Haha

There is a recent convert here named Ruben and he’s pretty old. And funny. Man I love old hispanic men.

But we were finally able to have a lesson with him and his brother Joe. Joe told us that he can’t wait until church opens up again and he can go and then get baptized there too. WOOOHOOO

LETS GO JOE!!!!

He has like 5 teeth. We just kept telling him that he has to stop drinking. He said he knows it’s hard but it will be worth it. So that was pretty awesome.

I have mentioned in previous emails that we have little Spanish lessons with some Hermanas preparing for their missions. A cultural thing they do in the Philippines is when they are learning something that’s difficult they’ll pretend to have a nosebleed. I don’t know if that makes sense. But anyway when these girls aren’t understanding anything they’ll pretend to have a nose bleed and it’s pretty funny because sometimes they’ll just say I have a nosebleed hahaha and we’ll all laugh because they aren’t understanding anything. So we’ll help them out. Anyways it’s a little inside joke now I guess.

But when we started one of the lessons this week we were talking about a random section like...adverbs

And they both were pretending to have nosebleeds and we were kind of ignoring it because it can get a little annoying. So we continued with talking, but then my comp was like Sister Torsak you actually have a nosebleed...her right nostril was all bloody hahah

So we’re kind of laughing about how ironic it was. We told her to just shove something up it like a tampon haha.

BUT THEY FREAKING PRANKED US. She showed us her hands and it was all fake blood. She even had a “bloody napkin” to help her prank us. We were dying laughing. I loved it. They told us that they thought of it when we were dealing with a phat leak in the sprinklers outside. Props to them. I like pranks. I actually did a few on some sisters back in Brownsville. Hahaha Good times. They weren’t super happy with us, but they got over it...I think.

Anyway that was awesome.

We had a lesson with Javier this week and after that we got on the subject of our favorite foods. He started talking to us about Raspas, which are really yummy like shaved ice almost. But his favorite is piccadilly. He explained it to us and it sounded nasty. It's basically a cherry raspa with chopped up pickles and a Kool-aid packet poured onto it and chamoy. There is a layer of pickles at the middle and a ton of pickles, chamoy and Kool-aid at the top. We told him there is a snowball down the road from our house that sells raspas. So after our lesson we drove over there and got a piccadilly raspa. It looked nasty, but it actually was pretty good, you just have to mix it all together. I would actually recommend it. It's funky but yummy!

There are a buttload of bugs here. And they love coming into our apartment, it’s also super easy for them to do that also because our backdoor has literally a two inch gap. It’s basically inviting all bugs to come party in our apartment. So we shove a towel under it but that only does so much you know. But Mario our bug guy has sprayed before and we still get huge cockroaches and camel spiders.

HOLY CRAP DID WE GET A SURPRISE THIS WEEK.

So Hna. Donaldson was taking some clothes out of her laundry bin to do a load of laundry BOOM a phat dead WOLF SPIDER. It was huge with its legs curled up underneath it. So she left it there for a day because she didn’t want to deal with it. Then the next day I asked if she still had it chillin with all her clothes. Yep. So I got my pliers out and grabbed it by one of it’s legs. I then thought of the best way to get rid of it. Light it on fire. I’m pretty sure it was the spirit obviously telling me to do it. We literally wrote down a lighter to buy at the store on p-day, but forgot. So the elders came to the rescue. They brought over a couple of lighters and we got lit in the backyard;) Haha

I put the lighter up to it and the spider legs would fling out and expand, that was pretty creepy. The legs eventually burned off but the body was still crispy and not really doing anything. I then thought back to what I was taught to use growing up...laundry lint. The perfect fire starter. Luckily we had some. So we put the spider body into a ball of laundry lint and lit it on fire. It became a crispy black spider lint ball. That was probably one of the funnest times I have had on my mission. Shout out to my parents for teaching me the best ways to light things on fire.

This week had its ups and downs...like any week as a missionary, but something I’ve been working on is my attitude with this whole situation. Holy cow does regular life sound great. But I’ve been called to this area at this time because the Lord needs me to be here. I’m coming up on my year mark this week, which honestly is crazy to me because I feel like I was at the MTC like 3 months ago let alone a year ago. I have loved my mission this far and I know I‘m here still for a reason. I just have to remind myself that. I am so grateful to be serving the Lord for a year and a half. I wouldn’t want to do another thing during this time in my life. He knows me and loves me. I know he is there for all of us. I know Jesus Christ shared his gospel with everyone and I need to do the same thing. I hope that you guys are able to draw closer to our Savior. He lives. He is with us every step of this mortal journey.

Hey again.
This is coming up on the last week of the transfer. May is already over. These months are honestly going by so fast and I can't believe that I hit a year this past week. I have loved my mission so far, I have had some of the best experiences of my life during this past year. It's crazy that I only have 6 months left to spread his gospel to the wonderful people down here in the south tip of Texas. I'm blessed to be here in the TMM. Wouldn't trade it for anything. But to celebrate my year mark we got Red Robin with the elders and ate it at the church. I missed their food. It's been a while. haha
I have had a pretty good week. We've received some referrals that we are hoping to get in contact with, they haven't answered us like at all. Ian is still trying to figure out a date for his baptism so we're praying that can happen sooner rather than later.
There is a recent convert here who loves us, his name is Javier. He is so amazing and we're teaching his daughter Jill. But he loves to give us tons of stuff. So we got like four watermelons last weekend and then this week we got two watermelons and two pineapples. At the end of Monday night we decided to carve our watermelons. I made a monster face and he was puking watermelon so that was pretty great, it also had watermelon hair that kind of looked like french fries sticking out of the top of it's head. My comp carved a pineapple into her watermelon, she obviously would've rather had a pineapple. He also got us some bags from the flea market he works at. They're full of bright colors and they remind me of the stuff my brothers would take pictures of in Guatemala.
Our mission is transitioning into phase 1 of returning back to normality. So p-days we are allowed to hang out with our district and now we're allowed to have district councils in person. HOLY COW you have no idea how good it felt to finally not have a meeting over flipping zoom. It has been about 2 and a half months since my last district council in person. That's pretty ridiculous. We brought lunch and all ate together. Man, human interaction is my favorite. But as some of the elders were leaving they came back in to tell the other Hermanas that their car had a flat tire and if they wanted them to change it. My comp and I said that we can help them so the elders didn't have to worry about it. So after we were done eating we went out to help them change it. IT STARTED DUMPING RAIN ON US. That felt super good. But we were completely soaked after 30 seconds. The other elders came out to leave and asked for help but we said no. They were like okay good because we don't want to be in the rain hahaha. But we got the tire changed so that was funny.
We started doing different challenges for our zone, the ZL's did one of who can do the most push-ups in a minute. So my compa and I were brainstorming the best way to do them. I already knew that the elders would destroy the sisters. So my comp did a few push ups over a bowl of ice cream and every time she went down she would eat some ice cream. She stopped part way and said push ups are hard and started planking and eating all her ice cream. hahaha everyone thought that was pretty great. But for mine I found a part of our wall with no pictures or anything and I put my hands against the wall to do my push ups. We moved the camera so all you could see is me doing "push ups" with a basic background, as if they were regular ones but then my comp zoomed out after like 15"push-ups" and we both just started laughing because I wasn't on the ground. I was voted second place by my ZL so that felt pretty good. hahahah
Every Friday we have been having devotionals with our whole mission. But we had an awesome opportunity to have a Zoom conference with Elder Soares...again! That's the second time he has talked to our mission. #blessed.
He gave an amazing lesson on how we can cry out to the Lord to help us with our unbelief. To help us gain strength to become better. To cry out and just let him know how we are doing. He talked about some difficult times in his family and how he has had to cry out to the Lord on multiple occasions. The spirit was super strong when he was sharing his experiences with us. I love that man. He is such an amazing apostle of the Lord. But when we finished up he was waving goodbye to all of us. And he looked at a few slides of missionaries and he said "Good-bye Hermanas Darling and Donaldson". AN APOSTLE JUST GAVE US A SHOUTOUT???? That was pretty awesome. We felt pretty cool after that hahaha
Right after that our ZL's texted telling us to not let it get to your heads hahaha we were like oh whatever. They were just jealous about it.
Saturday we had to do a Live stream video for our zone's Facebook page. That was super nerve racking, but it went pretty well I think. We did gospel trivia in Spanish. and every correct answer I got I smashed my comp's face in flour and every incorrect answer I gave I got an egg smashed on my head. There were a couple times that egg didn't crack and my comp literaly hit my with her fist, hahahahaha that hurt. But holy crap was it messy. we both got flour and egg ALL over ourselves and my hair got nasty crunchy from dried egg. But the video was a success...hopefully. We had to clean it up and that took a bit.

But during it we watched my friend Taylor get married so that was super cool. Congrats Taylor and Samantha!!
My trainer also got married the same day. Congrats Audrey and Trevor!!
Everybody's getting married hahaha

We had another Saturday Night McAllen Zone Game Night #SNMZGN
That was pretty fun. We played Guess who/20 questions and during the time when a companionship was discussing who they wanted as their person an elder would sing for us. He sang the theme song to Phineas and Ferb, eventually different companionships would join him. It was hilarious. we've been working on making sure our zone is more unified and they seem to like the challenges and games nights we've been doing so that's a blessing. Another challenge we did this week was a lip sync battle. My comp and I dressed up like elders and were showing off the nice ties we have and obviously just making fools of ourselves. After we sent it in people were reacting to it and an elder commented about the ties and if we wanted to trade. hahaha We had both got our ties from our "Dads" so it's considered a posterity tie and also a gift tie. And if there is one thing I've learned from the elders it's that you don't trade gift ties. They were a little upset when we both said no hahaha.
Also shoutout to Oscar (my brother) and Eloise (my cousin) for getting baptized and confirmed last Monday. I was able to watch it and talk to them about the importance of baptism. It was super cute. And fun to so tons of my family members.
I hope you all have an awesome week. And party hard!

So Pharr, So Good!!

(Editor's note: Ty is in Pharr, Texas, FYI)

                                                                     [May 5th email]
I can't believe April is over.
Where the heck did that month go?

Oh yeah no where because we were stuck in quarantine. ๐Ÿ˜‚

This week has been so good. We have been having tons of lessons and sharing so many messages it feels amazing. Definitely glad to. Be back in a Spanish area. I have been able to use it everyday and it feels soo good to get back in the swing of it. Luckily my comp's Spanish is fuego so she's been helping me with a butt load.

This area is popping we get at least 2 or 3 referrals a day from people who are willing to get closer to God. Can I get an AMEN??

Heavenly Father has truly been blessing us in our efforts to find, teach, and baptize during these times while stuck in our apartments.

Okay here is a list of stuff we did this week.

° CARD GAMES WITH THE ELDERS
-we have a little patio/concrete slab behind our apartment where we set up a table and chairs to play some games

° FOUND OUT WE HAVE AN ATTIC...
-may or may not have attempted to jump into it a few times ๐Ÿ˜‰
-It was just barely out of reach on a chair. So I moved a dresser underneath it. Then I was going to put a chair on top of that. But that looked a little sketchy. But it was perfect with the dresser, just couldn't find a super good foot hold to jump up. But I totally booted my comp up into it. It's nothing too special. But we'll explore a little more this week. Updates to come.

°BIKE RIDES
-there is a little walk/run/bike path like 5 minutes away from our apartment so we went there one night when the temp was bearable. It felt so good to get back on my bike Samir.

° MY COMPA GETTING HIT ON??
-So we went for a walk/run/mostly walk on the same trail a few nights ago. We walked for quite a bit. Then there was a kid biking and he came up behind us saying something. But we couldn't really understand what he was saying. I heard please move over...so I did. But Hermana Donaldson heard... "remember me?" we were all sorts of confused. But this like 12 year old kid was asking for our number. So we told him that we're missionaries and we'd give him our number if we could share a message about Jesus Christ with him.

He was like uhhhhh sure. So we did. Haha

So we started walking again. Then like 2 minutes later his cousin bike's up to us. And asked if we gave that kid our number. Yeah we did. We eventually explain to him we're missionaries and what we do. He asked for our number also. And if we have snapchat. We actually set up a return appointment to go biking because he asked us too. He was older like 22. But he called us that same night and we told him more why we're in Pharr Texas of all places. It was cool. He also said that he would like to be a missionary.
What??  That's awesome!

So the next night we biked over there and waited at this Pavillion. There was a little canal type things so of course I had to throw rocks in it. Then I tried seeing if I could hit the light pole on the other side of it. I did. I love entertaining myself by throwing rocks at random objects. Anyway he never showed up. So we left and biked back home. But on the way home he called and my compa talked to him. He basically said he isn't to Jesus as much as we are and he didn't want to text because he didn't want her to read the text messages to me. He also said he though she was super pretty and really just wanted to get to know her.

So that was interesting but at least he was honest. Love when we get hit on by guys on the Mish. :/

° MONDAY NIGHT MOVIE NIGHT
-We have this thing in our mission where if we have a certain amount of lessons and return appointments or baptismal dates or baptisms we are allowed to watch a movie on Monday night. Well last Monday we did...even though I just got transferred in. But we watched Forever Strong. I LOVE THAT MOVIE.

-And we also get to watch another one tonight. I'm super excited. You have no idea how long it's been to just sit down and watch a movie. It's great. Little tender mercies from God.

°EMMA
-There is this sweet little old lady we are teaching and she loves talking to the missionaries. She had a lot of medical problems in the past so missionaries stopped teaching her because of her situation. But we've been able to teach her and she said she's never been baptized before and would like to prepare to be baptized!!! Woohooo!

-I love little old Hispanic men and women. They can talk to you forever about anything they feel like and you just listen and say Si every once in a while. It's great.

°DANCING
-Okay so there are times where we are sitting and calling people and having lessons on lessons on lessons. It's great but your butt gets numb which is probably TMI but it helps you understand what I'm saying. Anyway when we're doing that and we need a break we'll try these little dances from Hna. Donaldson friend. She'll post them on Facebook and we'll do them to take a break. It's sooooo nice to dance.

°JAVIER AND JILL
-Javier is a recent convert that was baptized a month ago in quarantine and Jill is his 14 year old daughter. Javier is so fire!! And Jill is super interested in learning. She was taught a few lessons before I got here.

-But we had a lesson over text and taught her the restoration. She was super interested in it. It was such a great lesson. We're hoping to be able to invite her to be baptized this month. The spirit was super strong too.

°MARIO SPRAYED OUR APARTMENT FOR BUGS
-This guy was hilarious. He came in to sprayer for Camel Spiders. They are big brown spiders that literally scream when they are running towards you. But they can be found latched on to the belly of camels and eating all the bugs off of their bellies.

-He sprayed all the perimeter of our apartment. But when he was spraying he wasn't even looking at the baseboards he was looking and talking to us. He kind of sucked at aiming.

He also tried Bible bashing with us but we avoided that. He also told me he loves my name and it's super beautiful. Mario was creepy. And smelled funky. Hahaha

° SPANISH CLASS
-We are helping these two cute girls that are getting prepared for their missions. They are both living in the Philippines. They are so cute and their Spanish is improving super well. They have their mission calls to Canada and Ecuador. So we're just helping them prepare for it. It's helping me too. ;)

°FIRE WITH BIG BLACK SMOKE
-We went on a walk to our mailbox...which is about 10 feet in front of our house...and we looked and saw super black smoke. So I turned to Hna. Donaldson and asked if she wanted to go check it out. So we did. We grabbed "food" that we could be bringing to someone if we get pulled over.

-These clouds were HUGE. And super cool. We think it was inside the wildlife preserve. Crazy.

I love being a missionary. Yes the work is different, but it's still moving forward. Yes it does suck being stuck inside our apartments, but you have to enjoy the experiences you have. You have to be grateful for the trails we have in our lives. We NEED to be grateful for the things we go through. We can look back and we can see how God helped us. How the Savior knew what we felt.

I love the quote "forget yourself and go to work", I've definitely been using this on my mission and reaping the blessings from it.
I love being here.
I love you guys so much.
I love my family.
I know the Church of Jesus Christ is restored on the earth.
I know Jesus Christ lives.

                                                                    [May 11 email]
Being stuck in our apartment sounds like it would be long but honestly our weeks are flying by...which is crazy. But I hope your week wasn't too bad.
We had a ton of things happen...
Exchanges--we went on exchanges with some sisters in our zone. That was crazy we had tons of lessons and tons of return appointments. Sister Hilton and I had a ton of fun.
Mary-- We decided one day to call a random lady and she said she doesn't have time but we could call her back. The next day we called her. Ended up teach the whole gospel of Jesus Christ, parts of the restoration and asked her to be baptized with proper authority...which she said yes to. WOOHOOO!!!!! Mary was found because the spirit led us to her.

Storms--One night when we were trying to fall asleep and it started storming. Then dumping rain. It was super loud and cool. So we obviously had to check it out. My compa totally ran out to take a video too. Then she was soaked when she went to bed. She regretted it like I told her she would do. Haha

More missionaries--we've been having tons of meetings with our president and the leaders about the changes we have to make because of the new missionaries coming in. We're going to get up to 250 by the end of the summer. THAT'S A TON. We're getting like 100 more because we've lost so many.

We've honestly been working super hard these past few weeks and it feels super good.

I know this gospel is true. I've prayed about it and felt the confirmation of the spirit that it is.
I know the Book of Mormon is the word of God. I am so grateful to be a missionary even in quarantine. It sucks being stuck in out apartment but God is helping us further his work.
I love you guys and will talk to you next week.

Goin' insane in the membrane...somewhat & Transferred!!

(March 20)
Hey guys.
This week was a little rough. But we're still hanging on haha.
We have to in order to not go insane while stuck in our apartments.
Some things we've done this week was actually a lot of member work which has been fun. We made an excel sheet that we gave dates and times for our members to sign up to have lesson's with us. It's been slowly filling up. But it's been pretty good.
We've gone to the beach a ton. That helps a lot. We've been going on walks and little drives in order to get out of our apartment.
This week we've also listened to a bunch of AMAZING talks. Some from older conferences, BYU devotionals, and MTC devotionals.
But I love listening to Gordon B. Hinckley's.
No matter what talk it is or who it's for he brings up the same things at every talk:
-Don't get into pornography
-Don't do drugs
-Stay Modest
-Don't break any commandments
-Be careful and cautious when dating
-Don't use bad language

It's honestly nice to know how much he cared about all of those things. He emphasized it in EVERY TALK. If an apostle of the Lord emphasized those things over and over again we need to listen to what he has to say. His talks are so perfect. You should go listen to them.
My all time favorite talk is Converts and Young Men from April of 1997.
Look it up and take a listen. Such an amazing man he was.

We had a ton of study sessions with our mission. Every Wednesday we have a study session with some of our senior missionaries. Those are always fun. They don't know a ton about technology so that's always entertaining. We had a little study review thing with some zones on Friday. I got to see some friends over Zoom. Hah We have been reflecting on this past general conference and how we can apply their principles to our lives right now.

Ohhhhhh Saturday night we had Saturday Night Live Zone Jeopardy. SNLZJ. As our AP's called it.
That was suuuuupppperr funny. Our teams were Nacho and Rameses. We lost. I WAS TICKED.
But eventually got over it...unwillingly hahaha.

Oh something that we also did this week was draw out some awesome district t-shirt designs. We have a member that has a t-shirt business from her house so she's going to do it for us. WOOOHOOOOOOO! I'm pumped. We though it would be funny to put 4/4/2020 but decided against it hahaha. Probably not the most missionary like. ๐Ÿ˜‚

(March 27)
Have you ever had to isolate yourself from your companion? Because I HAD TO. Probably the weirdest experience of my life. Sister McKee wasn't feeling super good one morning. She was coughing a ton the night before, she checked her temperature and she had a fever. So we called the mission nurse and eventually was told that we needed to isolate ourselves from each other.
UHHHH excuse me?
Our apartment is literally one bedroom and one bathroom. So I chilled in the living room ALL day. At one point we were texting each other to make sure we both weren't dying. But that day I listened to some AMAZING talks and worked on a ton of projects. But that night I had to move my bed into the living room and sleep out there. It was weird. But our bedroom gets freezing and it's super dark so I can fall asleep pretty easily in there. But the living room was the opposite, so falling asleep was a bit of a struggle.
But the next day she was fine. The fever only lasted like an hour which was weird.
This week Sister McKee figured out how to juggle with a couple of oranges and a lemon. That was funny. There is this testimony ball challenge going around and she was nominated to do it. The video came out perfect after about 37 tries. Hahaha we were so happy when she got it.
I tried juggling a bit too.
I made some cookies for the elders up in Sinton. And a member helped deliver them. But we felt bad the elders up in Rockport didn't get any. So we booked up there to deliver some cookies. It's such a cute town. It's like basically surrounded by water. So after we walked with them for a bit we went to the beach and bought shaved ice. Y U M M Y.
A few elders met us at the church that same night to say goodbye because they were going home. That was Sad. But they were homies and are going to have fun at home.
We had an awesome zoom meeting with a life coach who is actually the Mom of one of the Sisters in our Zone. She talked a ton a out making the most out of our circumstances.
It was really good.
Took some great notes on how we can always find a solution to our problems.
After that our mission president told us we were going to have transfer calls that same night. Which was Friday???
Super weird. We were told we were going to stay together, but both felt like something was going to happen. And it did.
I was told I was leaving to McAllen.
๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ข๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ข
And my new comp is Sister Donaldson. We were actually in the same district my first Transfer on the Mish. We were both being trained by a Sister Bennett. That was funny. She's awesome.
But anyway I was feeling all sorts of emotions: happy, sad, frustrated, confused, and nauseated.
I was excited for a change but I didn't want to leave our squad in Portland and Sinton. I wanted to cry. We all did.
But I know God needs me back in the valley for a reason. So I'm always reminding myself about that.
The day after I packed up all my stuff. We had a few lessons. And had our last Dairy Queen run with the Elders.
I had to say goodbye to the Huffmans. So we went over there for a bit to tell them what was happening. I won't forget the people of Portland. I loved my time serving there and the friendships and relationships that I was able to have.
Sunday we said goodbye to the elders. I wanted to cry. It was so hard. But for transfers we weren't allowed to carpool or meet at the same places as the elders. It was extremely strict. We had certain times we could show up and we couldn't be early or we would get in trouble. Weirdness.
But the transition was really smooth. We pulled up I unloaded and Sister McKee's new comp loaded her stuff off.
I said goodbye to my compa and freaking cried like a baby.
I am going to miss her soooo much you have no idea. Honestly she's my BEST FRIEND. We partied hard and worked hard too. She is the funniest, craziest, cutest, person ever. She's such a good missionary and such an example to me. She's going to do amazing things on her mission and in her life.
Changes suck.  Heck... Transfers suck.
But they are meant to happen. If life was perfect we wouldn't experience sadness. We need to experience sadness in order to change and grow mentally, physically, and spiritually. Jesus Christ didn't suffer just because he wanted to. He knew we were going to struggle in this life and he knew he was the only person who could help and save us. I need to change in order to become closer to my Savior.
I know we are called to a certain area with a certain companion because THEY need us. And so do the people.

I GOING TO MISS SISTER MCKEE, ELDER DE LEON, AND ELDER REGINATO SOO MUCH.

But it's all going to work out in the end. We are all going to do some amazing things on our missions. And we can only move forward.
I love you guys.

Conference!

Two Weeks Ago
First off, I hope you guys are still alive. Because that would suck. Sorry I probably shouldn't joke about that. But it's better to treat scary situations with humor then fear. Well that's what I think anyway. This week leading up to general conference flew by. I literally thought Thursday was Wednesday the whole day. Then when it was Friday I thought my comp changed my watch. But she didn't.
OH MY GOSH. Conference was full of the spirit. I had written some questions down that I wanted to receive answers for during conference. I did. It was honestly amazing. There was a point when Elder Renlund was talking and I swear he was staring at me and telling exactly what God wanted me to do. I almost started crying the spirit pierced my heart. It was such an amazing experience. And during the mission it's like 20 times better.
I have been pondering a ton of things recently. A ton about how I can be a better more effective tool in the hands of the Lord. I finished watching General conference knowing exactly what I need to do. I'm still out on my mission for a reason. These past few weeks have been hard. And it's probably going to be like this for a little bit longer. But God's Prophet knows what he's doing and he's going to give us instruction on what we should be doing. There is a reason for everything we do.
Every person we meet.
Every area we're in.
Every comp we get.
The trials we have to go through.
There are some many things that happen for a reason. And I'm grateful for it. I'm grateful for everything I've been able to learn. Every experience I've been given. Every prayer I have said. All the scriptures I've read. The many times I've had to repent. All the mistakes I have.
I'm grateful to be a daughter of God and o spread this happiness with everyone I come in can tact with. Either on the streets or through technology.
It's hard, but doable.
I love my Savior and I know he lives.
I know that Joseph Smith was a Prophet and was called by God to restore the fullness of the Gospel in this last dispensation.
There were times that I doubted things. And I prayed about them. And through the confirmation of the spirit I was able to receive an answer.

Last Week
"... I think I might just get real mad. Oh quarantine. Oh quarantine..."
That is part of a song Sister McKee sang me one day when we were both going a bit crazy. The beginning part is hilarious but embarrassing so I'm not sharing it with you. ๐Ÿ˜‚
It's Monday!
Another week down in the books.
Sister McKee and I got our crap together this week. We were slackin' a bit and we noticed, so we whipped back into shape. And it feels GREAT.
Our week consisted of the following:
*Zoom Meetings
- District council, zone conferences, Wednesday study sessions, and Good Friday general conference reflection meeting. And instead of phone call follow ups at night with our district we have been doing FaceTime gospel trivia games. And let me tell ya Sister McKee and I have been killing it. Our last one was Saturday night and it was about the TMM (Texas McAllen Mission) I got so many in a row our District Leader was like "Why does she know all of these" We were laughing so hard. I love knowing useless facts.
*Facebook Group creation-Miracle Moments
- uhhh yeah we made the dopest Facebook group...You all should be in it. We decided to make a group focusing on the miracles in our lives. It has a ton of people joining. Just not a ton of people posting. PLEASE HYPE OUR GROUP UP!! WE NEED YOUR HELP.
- we also made a video explaining what our group is about and may or not have started the video off by making a fool of ourselves. But it was fun!!
*Facebook creepers
-okay this is one of the biggest things we've had to deal with while "Facebook finding" we have had like 10 random guys start texting us over Facebook messenger. And we'll try to share messages with them but they just want to ask us out to dates and tell us we're beautiful. I mean, thanks for the compliment and we'll reschedule the date for after the Mish. But for now NO THANK YOU. ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜…
*Good Friday Fast
-That was such an awesome opportunity I'm glad I participated in. We both ended our fasts with some yummy lasagna and garlic bread. And Reese's eggs!!!! I almost cried I was so happy. I love members!!
*Study sessions
-Almost everyday of the week so far we have been able to have a study session with some members. It's been really fun.
-But with the members we do it with. They are a little crazy though. Anyway she'll go off on different topics when we aren't even done with our lesson. The topics for this week were, Trump, Ghosts, Guns, and Diapers.
-Ohhhh but during our lesson on Saturday we read in Matthew about the crucifixion and Resurrection of Jesus Christ. But when they were reading they kept saying Barababus and I have never laughed so hard during a lesson in my life. And they're pretty chill so she was like, "girls what are you laughing about...it's making us laugh". We kept apologizing because we felt bad but it was hilarious. Also her husband said spatula instead of sepulcher. I lost it. I had to shove my face in my arm to try and not be loud.
By the time that lesson was over I had tears in my eyes from laughing so hard.
Oh man I love them. Gotta love crazy members.
*Easter
-That morning we were able to join in Sister McKee's family "Church service" and sing I Know my Redeemer Lives. We sang the first verse in English, the second and third in Spanish, and the last verse in English. The spirit was pretty strong. What a great hymn.
-It was a pretty good day. A member dropped off a ton of food to have an Easter lunch feast. It was so nice of them. They also gave us toilet paper and pillows that say Happy Easter.
-We were able to take the sacrament which honestly is so special to me. Every week it's unknown if we'll take it or not because of the quarantining. But I'm blessed to be serving with elders that are worthy of blessing and administering the sacrament to my companion and I.
-we had some members give us so super yummy pulled pork BBQ sandwiches, deviled eggs, chips, and lemonade. It was so yummy.
- That night I was also able to participate in a Come Follow Me lesson with my family. That was such an awesome experience. I love being able to talk to my family. Especially about gospel related topics.

Well there's a rundown of how I have been. We've been really good. Might have gone crazy three or four times through out the week but that's when we'll go to the beach and take a walk. What a blessing it is to have that available for us to go to.
I love my mission. I love every chance I have had and will get to have.
I love my Savior. I know he died and was resurrected. And because he did that we all will die and be resurrected as well. Sounds pretty good to me.
I love my family. I love having such an amazing support group and a place to be a goofball.
I love the people here in Portland and Brownsville and Mission. I love every single person I have been able to know and talk to in the south of Texas. Whether they wanted a message or not. I love being able to feel God's love for his children.
I know the gospel of Jesus Christ is important and it's the only way we'll be able to get back into heaven.
I know Joseph Smith was a Prophet and went through horrible trials for the restoration of the fullness of the gospel.
I know that God has a plan for every single one of us.
I LOVE YOU GUYS SO MUCH.
Thank you for the love and support you have given me
Jesus loves you!
Stay 2 Legit 2 Quit and party hard in quarantine.
Con todo mi amor,
Hermana Darling
