Heyo...here's what happened this weekπ
Volcano-We made a really cool paper mache Volcano because we found a huge box full of old newspapers from like 2018. It took us literally forever because we'd work on it in our spare time...you don't have like any spare time as a missionary hahaha
But we used it for a video we're making and it was awesome!
David-We were out looking for some people and the spirit literally was yelling at me to not get in the car but to talk to this guy in his garage on the other side of the street. So I did. It was such a great contact and when we were talking he was like come by tomorrow morning we can talk more. π±
So we did and he's super cool. He's been to salt lake city and went inside the tabernacle place. We invited him to watch general conference with us at the church. It was awesome!!
Kickball-So Zapata is really small members wise. So we're trying to boost the youth programs and every other programs too, to be honest haha. But we set up mutual and got like 6 or 7 youth to come play Kickball with us. We were all laughing so hard the whole time. Our team totally destroyed the other team...they weren't playing very fair sooo. It was a really good turnout.
We were so happy.
Jeannies blessing - We stopped by a member to check up on her and we asked her if she knows anyone that would be interested in listening to us. She referred her neighbor. So we went over there and this lady isn't a fan of the "Mormon church" or the "Mormon book" but I asked how she has seen God's hand in her life and she started balling her eyes out.
Ha got 'em! She's battling stage 4 lung cancer and she knows God is with her through this experience. I shared a scripture from the "Mormon book" and guess what she loved Helaman 5:12. So ha! Anyway we asked her if she would want a priesthood blessing because the elders carry the exact same authority that Jesus Christ gave to his apostles. She said yes! So the next day we went over with the elders and you could feel the spirit so strongly during the whole blessing. I'm so grateful for the priesthood power we have restored on the earth today. It has blessed my life and so many more as well.
Garza family-They are the nicest people ever. We were able to talk to them while Lisa was making macaroons...she owns a dessert business inside her house. But anyway we talked about general conference and how we know they have been struggling because of Covid and we promised them that if they watched it Jorge would find work. THE SPIRIT WAS SO STRONG AHH I LOVED IT.
Hna Ruiz-This member is hit and miss haha she really likes us but we're not too sure she likes the elders hahah. But we love her to death anyway. She needed help organizing her house for an inspection that's happening soon. We got there and then the elders showed up right after us. The whole time we were confused on what she wanted to do so we wee all guessing and straightening some things up while she was busy with other cosas. But she told one of the elders to pack up all the cans. So he did. They after like 30 minutes she started raising her voice and asking him why he packed up all the cans? She only wanted the ones that they weren't going to eat. It was a little scary but then we were apologizing the crap out of her and she was better. Then we all laughed it off.
Phew! What a close one. π
General Conference - The talks that were given were so amazing! On Saturday we met up at the church for all three of the sessions.
Str8 fuego.
But them on Sunday we both woke up with runny noses and I had a sore throat and we were both sneezing...so the mission nurse told us to stay home π
I doubt it's Covid π€
I wanted to cry I was ticked! But Edgar showed up to the church and watched conference.
Adolfo watched it while driving to Austin. And Alan watched like all the sessions at his house!!!
That was so great to hear.
We watched it on the couch we technically can't use but ehhh it was great. It sucked being sick but at least we had a decent connection to listen the apostles and Prophet of God. What a spiritual weekend it was!
Carlos- HE FOUND HIS BOOK OF MORMON. He's 73 and can talk your ear off. But our invitation last time we taught him was to find his Book of Mormon and he found it. He said we probably didn't believe him when he said he had one...but we totally did! He's hilarious and like my new best friend. His quotes are my absolute favorite.
Here's another quote from a conversation he had with a nurse...
Nurse: Are you medium or large?
Carlos: Where are you coming from ma'am?
Nurse:We're gonna prepare you for pampers
Carlos: Pampers?! You got to be kidding me.
He told us he tried one on after they left and he said: " I need some large the medium ain't doin nuthin!!"
When he told us that we were all dying laughing my stomach hurt so much from cracking up...he wiped tears away because he was laughing so hard. TEARS ππ
Aww man I love Carlos.
Something I got out of General Conference was how important it is to have a relationship with God and his Son Jesus Christ. There are so many ways we can do this. Prayer, church, come follow me, ministering, or just being a friend to someone. Striving to be Christ like and striving to gain characteristics of Christ can also help us have a better relationship with God and our Savior.
Our Father in Heaven loves us unconditionally, how amazing is that?
We are loved by a God.
I love you guys muchΓsimo!
