Enjoy the Journey

Wow. Just wow. Never in my whole time as a missionary would I have ever thought about writing my last email. This is so whack.

But here it goes.

These past 18 months of my life have been nothing but experiences. Fun, sad, hard, hilarious, difficult, confusing, you name it I dealt with it. I'm just in shock that a year and a half just zipped by...like no joke I sneezed and poof I'm done, I'm finishing.
HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE??

I am so beyond grateful to every single companion I have had, area I served in, district I played a role in, homiez I've made, THE AMAZING, AMAZING FOOD I HAVE EATEN, the spirit I have felt, and how much closer I have gotten to my Savior Jesus Christ.

I have loved loved loved being a missionary. I wouldn't have traded this experience for anything in the world. I needed to be here. God needed me here. The people needed me here.

I know without a doubt that the gospel of Jesus Christ has been restored through the Prophet Joseph Smith. I prayed and asked myself and received a confirmation from the spirit that it's true. The church I have been a missionary for these past 18 months is true. It has the same foundation and same gospel that Jesus Christ established and taught while he walked the earth.

Jesus Christ is the best older brother anybody could have asked for. He carried everybody's burdens so we don't have to go through life being weighed down by our sins. There is healing and forgiveness in his Atonement. We all should utilize it the best we can. I know that since I've been gone his Atonement has really helped me realize that change is possible. I have changed so much this past year and a half because I have been striving to be more like Jesus everyday. It's been pretty difficult, but it's definitely been worth it. Putting his name next to my heart everyday has been the best reminder that I can be like him. I still can be like him without the tag. But I'm gonna miss it so so much.

This week was an amazing week to finish off my mission here in Texas.
We taught some amazing lessons directed by the spirit, ate some delicious food, and sadly said goodbye to so many people that I'm going to miss SO MUCH when I get to Washington in a couple days.
The people down bear have touched my life in so many ways it's unreal.

I'll always have a piece of my heart down here by the border.
I love and thank all of you for the support I have gotten along the over here.
I'm going to miss it so much.
But onto the next chapter of my life.
Enjoy your journey.

God be with you till we meet again. πŸ™

Only one more week mija...thanks CarlosπŸ’™πŸ™

The title is the first thing out of Carlos' mouth when we went and visited him. He gave me some sick marriage advice too hahaha

And gave me his address so I can send him a wedding announcement, that'll be in a while buddy...but this guy is literally my favorite ever.

Take a look at some things that happened this week...

Built a Swingset and Drove to Roma--We went back over to Sister Ruiz' house and got to help build a Swingset for her grandkids it took wayyyyy longer then it should have but it was pretty fun to do it with the elders. But right after that we had to go home and get ready to drive almost an hour to a little place called Roma. My companion and the elders had interviews with President Ocampo. Mine is later this week or the day before I yeet out of here. But Hermana Miller was told she was training. On the car ride home she balled her eyes out the whole time...I tried my best to summon up my feminine/emotional side to help...I prayed to know what to say honestly. But this is going to be super hard for her but super good for her. I literally felt like her mom these past two transfers...now she's gotta flap her wings and fly. She's my God mija. She's got this though. I'm getting her excited to train because it's literally the best!!!!

SAD BOI HOURS-So we had some fuego people that had baptisms scheduled for this past Saturday and this upcoming Thursday. Both bailed on us 😭😭. Our home boi Edgar wasn't really converted to the gospel...that's all I'm going to say about that haha. But he told us he doesn't want to go to our church anymore and he's fine with his relationship with Jesus Christ. I hope he finds the truth sometime soon though.
Adolfo and Rocio were supposed to get married and Adolfo was supposed to get baptized this Thursday. But freaking Satan decided that he needed to work...and buy Rocio a dress.
So they moved it to January. 😒
But as long as it happens and he becomes the next Branch President I'm chillin. It just hurt a little ya know. But anyway I know God has a plan for them so I'm not too worried.
But on the flip side Elma and Faith are the mom and daughter of Ronnie who just got baptized. We've been helping the elders teach them because they wanted girls hahaha and they're getting ready for their baptism too. Yayayaya!!!! I'll hopefully be there for that. It should be sometime this week.
PRAY FOR THEM PLEASE hahaha

Our home boi Kevin-we got a text from him one morning and asked to meet in the park. So we had a good ole 9am restoration lesson and it was pretty fire. He doesn't have a car and walks everywhere. He liked the pamphlet and asked some good questions about the Atonement. He told us he'll see us at church too!!! Woohooo!! Milagros!!!

The last squad Pic - Elder Burton got et'd last Saturday and that honestly sucked. All three of them were soo fun to hang out with. I treated him like my son because he was brand new in the mission. He's always called me Mom hahaha... I'm so old in the mission I feel like everyone's Mom.
But he was super good and definitely changed some lives here in the Big Z.
Stay gold pony boy.

HOLY CRAP GUYS...
I'm starting my last week of my mission. I'm sad/happy/excited/pumped/scared... all of the emotions honestly.
This transfer has flown!!
But it's not over yet. I still have this week to see the miracles God has in store for me. I love this place and all the crazy weird people it has in it. But I wouldn't have asked for a better area to finish my mission.
ZAPATA STRONGπŸ¦…

I love being a missionary and wouldn't have traded these experiences for anything in the world
I know Jesus is my Savior and Redeemer. I know God loves all of us no matter what we've been through. His arms are always opened wide for us to come back to him.

"I have two witnesses...the Sisters from the church. They're not just some random strangers."

Heyo my peeps. This week was pretty freaking awesome.

Sister Ruiz and Amazon-The title of the email is something Sister Ruiz told the poor costumer service lady at Amazon...she kind of was yelling at her because this is the second time in a row they sent her the wrong burrito bowls for her grandkids.
We are witnesses for her apparently hahahha
We were dying...it was honestly hilarious.

Zone conference - Our zone is really spread out because it's brand new. So we were finally able to be in the same place all together! Zone conference was super uplifting and full of the spirit. We talked a ton about DΓa de los Muertos and that's why our p-day was moved from Monday to Tuesday. So we could contact more people on the actual day. WOOHOO!!!

EDGAR- THIS GUY IS GETTING BAPTIZED ON THE 14TH OF NOVEMBER. We had asked him about baptism a couple weeks ago but never set a date. So after having dinner with him and his daughters we asked him about the 14th and he said yes!!! Oh my gosh that made us all so happy. He knows he's on the right path and we're here to help him get closer to his Savior by following his example and getting baptized in the lake!! BOOOYAHH
The spirit was so strong!!!!

Branch movie night- We watched Mulan the brand new one. It was actually really good. And we related it to the importance of families and tied it in with DΓa de Los Muertos. We had a pretty good turn out. A couple families from the branch and Edgar came with one of his daughters. They loved it!!!

DÍA DE LOS MUERTOS- What an awesome experience we had this weekend. So starting Saturday through Monday we were focusing mainly on our ancestors and helping people sign up for family search. We went to the parks and the cemetery here and got to talk to soooo many people and passed out some pamphlets. We even got some super interested people. We were also able to start Edgar and his girls with their family history. It was so amazing!!!!!!! What a perfect time of year to help everyone else remember more about their family members.

Here's a Carlos quote for ya:
"Oh watch out mamas your kids will getcha." I love this dude so much.

I love it so much over here in the Big Z. I have seen God's hand so many times over these past couple of months. He is mindful of each and every one of us. I know he lives and so does his son Jesus Christ. I wouldn't be here if I didn't know that for certain.
I do it for the Lord.

WE ARE HERE FOR LISA

This week was full of so many miracles, like...
*Mati- This lady was so sweet and tops us to come right in. We were able to talk to her and get to know her pretty well. The spirit was like screaming at me to share Mosiah 2:41 for some reason. After sharing that she opened up to us on so many things. It was honestly super amazing. We now know what she needs help with and we're here to help. What an awesome lesson!!!!!

*Exchanges and bunnies-This week I went on my last ever exchange as a missionary. Talk about sad. But lemme tell ya. We definitely saw miracles. I was in Laredo with Hna. Prusso and we were out there grinding. We had so many lessons and we were in the right place at the right time. And when we were walking this street at the end of the night this guy told us to come into his gate...a little sketch but then he showed us his like 7 bunnies jumping around and he was such a sweet guy. His son was talking to us and I got to hold their baby bunny. It fell asleep in my arms 😭 I wanted to take it home so bad hahaha. He was super interested and wanted to to come by... YAY!!
It was such an awesome exchange! It was a good little break from Zapata.

*The man Alan- We had an amazing lesson with Alan this week. Oksy so back story he's buen scared of getting Covid. But he's literally a dry member. So we asked him if he got an answer telling him to be baptized would he do it. He said yes. Then the spirit was like ask him!! So I quickly looked on the calendar a d asked him to ask God if he wanted him to be baptized on November 7th. He said he'll ask God and if the answer is yes he'll do it.
GUYS PLEASE PRAY FOR ALAN!!!!!!
That lesson was just str8 fuego.
I also am working on being more bold with people because like...I have a month left hahaha but at the end he brought up polygamy. I basically just straight up told him that polygamy has nothing to do with our salvation...so who cares hahaha he thought it was pretty great so I was happy haha.
Be bold guys...it's really fun.

*Edgar and his girls-It's pretty funny that we get fed more by our investigator then any other member of the church here in Zapata. His food is amazing!!!!! I am literally in love with homemade Mexican food. He's kind of like our dad. He's so nice to us and we're hoping to set a BD with him. Pray for Edgar!!!!

Lisa-So we have been trying to go by this family we found for the past couple weeks and we finally were svle to meet with them. And they said these last few weeks have been so hard. Lisa, the mom, opened up to is and started crying. She was so grateful we showed up and we're here to help their family get closer to God. Okay side note...my compa has been having a hard time understanding why she's out on her mission. She's been home and back for sickness and covid 3 times.
It's been a little tough not gonna lie, but I've been trying to show her reasons why God needs us in Zapata and Lisa was one of the reasons. So when we left their house and got farther away I was like yelling...but happy yelling haha that WE ARE HERE FOR LISA! God put us in her path for a reason and it helped both of us haha.

*Chalk Night- we had a chalk activity with our 2 youth. It was pretty great. We drew a pumpkin dead guy, scream, and Shrek. Hahahha it was pretty great I surprise myself sometimes. I can like somewhat draw...I mean one of the young men really liked it sooo score!

*Sergio- We've been trying to go by this guy for a but but he's like never home. But we finally were able to talk with him and we ended up teaching him the whole restoration on his porch. It was so awesome!! He said he was going to pray about everything and he'd see us at church. Woooohooooo!!!!!! The spirit was so stinking strong. It just flowed. He didn't come to church but he will next time!!!

God has been blessing us for our efforts over here by the Border. But I know it's because we're putting him first before everything we do. That's how he changes us. We have to put forth effort in order to see his hand working in our lives. I know for a fact that this is the one true church. Nothing can change my mind about that. I wouldn't be devoting a year and a half if I didn't know it for myself.

But I hope you guys all had an amazing week.

Freedom by Falcon Lake

Freedom never felt so good you guys.
We have been free from dumb quarantine this whole week and it's been pretty great.
Here's a couple things that happened...

Edgar and his girls-They invited us over for dinner and made MOLE!!!!!!! That is literally my favorite dish they make down here. My comp was not a fan and told me all about how gross it was when we left...but I ignored her hahaha No one can change my mind about mole and rice with Tortillas. They also made a super yummy soup full of vegetables and potatoes. Sooo yummy!!!!!!! We were finally able to actually meet his daughters. And now we're all best friends haha. And he came to church again. He also told us in an earlier lesson that he told his girls he wants to be baptized into the church sometime in the future?!?! We were so happy when we left his house. Blessings guys. I'm tellin ya.

Food bank-We went to the food bank a couple times with the elders this week and we hustled and got literally everything done super fast. Haha I love that place so much. The ladies see us walk in and just wave us back.

Eidy and Rocio- Ahhhhh I loves these people!! So Rocio is suppose to get married to Adolfo before he gets baptized next month. She has been coming to church for literally ever. And Eidy is her daughter. She's 12 and super sassy. But Rocio doesn't know like any English so if Eidy wants to say something about her mom she'll say it in English then Rocio will laugh and look at us and say que les dijo?? So we'll translate. It's hilarious. They love us haha. And they came to church!!!!

Youth activity! - We had another mutual activity with the 5 youth we have. KICKBALL! But that was really fun. We have to start earlier because it gets really dark really quick after the sun sets. Our team destroyed the other team. I got a homerun and almost a grand slam to finish it off. My comp was surprised but...obviously my parents taught me well πŸ˜‚

Carlos quotes- Again this guy is literally my favorite. Gotta love old Hispanic men.
Enjoy some of his quotes from this week
"They're gonna de fund the police...who you gonna call?? A social worker? You can't do nothing with a booklet and pen."
*neighbor comes buy with a watermelon
"they asked if I wanted a watermelon...no I don't want no watermelon. What I want are those cookies!!
Don't forget the chocolate chips
Yeah she make those cookies for a living...and they goooood"
"Peace and love, peace and love ahh I like them good ol days...it was all about peace and love" *holding peace signs up πŸ˜‚
Me: Okay your turn to say the prayer
Carlos: okay
*us waiting in silence for a sec
Me: are you going to say it?
Carlos: What?! I just said it last time...this is a conspiracy
*us dying of laughter

Yeah this week was awesome and super fast like always.
But I know for a fact Jesus Christ had a church and it has been restored. We have a living day Prophet because we have a loving God who wants his children to have direction in our lives. I also know that Temples are a house of God and a place where the spirit dwells. That also can be compared to our bodies. We are temples where the spirit can dwell. We need to be making the right choices for ourselves in order to have the companionship of the Holy Ghost with us always. It's a such an amazing gift from God.

I love you guys. Hope you kill it this week.

Sicko Mode...like honestly though

Holy cow. This week was rough not gonna lie.

We got tested for Covid on Monday then we went home and like slept for, no joke, 4 days straight because we felt like trash. But luckily my test came back as negative. Phew! But since Sunday we've been stuck inside quarantined from everyone. And still have symptoms so we can't leave until we're better.

Please send your prayers πŸ™πŸ™

Adolfo and Rocio went to church and so did Alan. So we were pretty happy about that!!

But the biggest miracle of this week was witnessing the baptism of the Gonzalez family. πŸ’™❤️
They have been taught by the elders and it was kind of a Rollercoaster but they did it! We were able to drive there and watch from the car because they were baptized in the lake here! We were also on FaceTime but that didn't really help us out that much. But we both felt the spirit SO STRONG from inside of the car haha.
It just testified to me that I'm here to help others come unto Christ. I need to kick it into gear this last transfer. This is my only time to be a missionary.

Transfer calls were yesterday and I'm staying in Zapata with Hna Miller!!! Yay!!!!!!!

I have to go out with a bang. I know that God is extremely mindful of me and I know he has miracles in store for Zapata.
Love ya guys mucho! πŸ™

Conferencia general y bendiciones de Dios πŸ™

Heyo...here's what happened this weekπŸ’™

Volcano-We made a really cool paper mache Volcano because we found a huge box full of old newspapers from like 2018. It took us literally forever because we'd work on it in our spare time...you don't have like any spare time as a missionary hahaha
But we used it for a video we're making and it was awesome!

David-We were out looking for some people and the spirit literally was yelling at me to not get in the car but to talk to this guy in his garage on the other side of the street. So I did. It was such a great contact and when we were talking he was like come by tomorrow morning we can talk more. 😱
So we did and he's super cool. He's been to salt lake city and went inside the tabernacle place. We invited him to watch general conference with us at the church. It was awesome!!

Kickball-So Zapata is really small members wise. So we're trying to boost the youth programs and every other programs too, to be honest haha. But we set up mutual and got like 6 or 7 youth to come play Kickball with us. We were all laughing so hard the whole time. Our team totally destroyed the other team...they weren't playing very fair sooo. It was a really good turnout.
We were so happy.

Jeannies blessing - We stopped by a member to check up on her and we asked her if she knows anyone that would be interested in listening to us. She referred her neighbor. So we went over there and this lady isn't a fan of the "Mormon church" or the "Mormon book" but I asked how she has seen God's hand in her life and she started balling her eyes out.
Ha got 'em! She's battling stage 4 lung cancer and she knows God is with her through this experience. I shared a scripture from the "Mormon book" and guess what she loved Helaman 5:12. So ha! Anyway we asked her if she would want a priesthood blessing because the elders carry the exact same authority that Jesus Christ gave to his apostles. She said yes! So the next day we went over with the elders and you could feel the spirit so strongly during the whole blessing. I'm so grateful for the priesthood power we have restored on the earth today. It has blessed my life and so many more as well.

Garza family-They are the nicest people ever. We were able to talk to them while Lisa was making macaroons...she owns a dessert business inside her house. But anyway we talked about general conference and how we know they have been struggling because of Covid and we promised them that if they watched it Jorge would find work. THE SPIRIT WAS SO STRONG AHH I LOVED IT.

Hna Ruiz-This member is hit and miss haha she really likes us but we're not too sure she likes the elders hahah. But we love her to death anyway. She needed help organizing her house for an inspection that's happening soon. We got there and then the elders showed up right after us. The whole time we were confused on what she wanted to do so we wee all guessing and straightening some things up while she was busy with other cosas. But she told one of the elders to pack up all the cans. So he did. They after like 30 minutes she started raising her voice and asking him why he packed up all the cans? She only wanted the ones that they weren't going to eat. It was a little scary but then we were apologizing the crap out of her and she was better. Then we all laughed it off.
Phew! What a close one. πŸ˜…

General Conference - The talks that were given were so amazing! On Saturday we met up at the church for all three of the sessions.
Str8 fuego.
But them on Sunday we both woke up with runny noses and I had a sore throat and we were both sneezing...so the mission nurse told us to stay home 😭
I doubt it's Covid 🀞
I wanted to cry I was ticked! But Edgar showed up to the church and watched conference.
Adolfo watched it while driving to Austin. And Alan watched like all the sessions at his house!!!
That was so great to hear.
We watched it on the couch we technically can't use but ehhh it was great. It sucked being sick but at least we had a decent connection to listen the apostles and Prophet of God. What a spiritual weekend it was!

Carlos- HE FOUND HIS BOOK OF MORMON. He's 73 and can talk your ear off. But our invitation last time we taught him was to find his Book of Mormon and he found it. He said we probably didn't believe him when he said he had one...but we totally did! He's hilarious and like my new best friend. His quotes are my absolute favorite.
Here's another quote from a conversation he had with a nurse...
Nurse: Are you medium or large?
Carlos: Where are you coming from ma'am?
Nurse:We're gonna prepare you for pampers
Carlos: Pampers?! You got to be kidding me.
He told us he tried one on after they left and he said: " I need some large the medium ain't doin nuthin!!"

When he told us that we were all dying laughing my stomach hurt so much from cracking up...he wiped tears away because he was laughing so hard. TEARS πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
Aww man I love Carlos.

Something I got out of General Conference was how important it is to have a relationship with God and his Son Jesus Christ. There are so many ways we can do this. Prayer, church, come follow me, ministering, or just being a friend to someone. Striving to be Christ like and striving to gain characteristics of Christ can also help us have a better relationship with God and our Savior.
Our Father in Heaven loves us unconditionally, how amazing is that?
We are loved by a God.

I love you guys muchΓsimo!

Oh *BLEEP*... You Speak Spanish??

Hellllloooooo my people! Another week zoomed by, here are some of my miracles/highlights of my week...check em out!

A huge toad- We got back from our appointments one night and Hna Miller like yelled and was yelling at me to come over and see this huge toad. So of course I picked him up and tried kissing him...but didn't put my face too close to his. But then he peed all over the concrete hahaha
I guess I have that effect on toads.
Edgar and his cars- This guy is pretty interesting haha he told us we're his friends because he can literally count his friends on his hand. But he's been reading the book of Mormon. He also has like a bunch of really cool cars. I mentioned that a couple of weeks ago. But he also has a huge collection of hot wheels cars. He gave me 10 of them! Hahaha to start my own collection...lowkey wished they were all real though. But we also asked him to be baptized this week. He said yes but when the time is right. Bro...the time is now! But we're working on our patience with him. He's pretty nice to us. He also came to church again!!
Our videos-This week we made some videos for the Facebook pages. Like I don't want to sound prideful...but they came out pretty good. We made one about our "roots" from our ancestors. We also used plants...because they have roots.
And the second one is all about the power of the Book of Mormon and the Bible. They can help us overcome evil in the world. That one is one of my favorites. We used different backgrounds from all over Zapata and it definitely catches your eye.
ADOLFO-THIS GUY IS GOING TO BE SUCH AN AMAZING BRANCH PRESIDENT. Like I mentioned last week he has a baptismal date for November 19th. Luckily...or I guess hopefully I'll still be here for that. But he reads his scriptures and he comes to church everytime he's in town. We talked to him about callings this week and how important it is to serve in the church after we're baptized. He told us he would be honored to have a calling. We flipped out we were so happy. Hahahha
Carlos- Okay Carlos is 73 years old and he calls us Mija...WHICH IS MY FAVORITE WORD THEY USE HERE. But we had a lesson with him and he has a bit of a mouth so he'll slip some swear words in here or there. He's old so like it's kind of okay. Hahahaha
But I said it's my turn to pray and I told him I'll do it in Spanish because he speaks both. That's where the title of my email comes from... Oh ****, you speak Spanish?? He yelled that after I said I'll pray in Spanish haha
We both though he was going to fall out of his chair because he was so astonished. Hahahha it was hilarious. And his dog is my new best friend.
We saw Alan!!!!- Alrighty so everytime we have a lesson with Alan it's through phone call. And we've never seen his face because well I guess we never asked. But even on our church zoom calls he always had his camera off. So we were getting pretty worried that he was like a major creep. But then one night he suggested having our lesson over zoom call. AND WE FINALLY SAW HIS FACE. And he's not creepy so yayaayayay!!!
Lisa and Jorge-We found this name on area book that looked really cool so the spirit smacked us in the face and told us we need to go visit them. So we tried by last week and saw their two sons. Then we tried by this week and they let us right in. There is Lisa, Jorge, Junior, Rene, and George. They are so amazing!!!!! And she was making Carmel apples and gave us some. They were pretty flipping yummy. They have had missionaries come before but they stopped when Covid hit. But they were so happy to see us. We were actually able to show them the video we made and invited them to church and they are so excited for us to come back. GOD IS BLESSING US SO HARD. I actually gave a training this week in district council about finding families to teach. I told everyone to pray for a specific number of people to find because that has happened to me so many times. My comp prayed to find a family of five and BOOM we did!!!! How amazing! πŸ’™

That's basically how my week was. We've been trying to go by tons of members to get them coming back to church again because a ton of people have gotten lazy and haven't found the need to go back again. But we actually had a quite a chunk at church like almost 20 haha we were pretty happy about that too.
God loves you and I know that for a fact. If you need help he's there, he won't ever let you fall.
And I'm also here is you need anything. Let me know:)
The church is definitely true. And I know Jesus is my homie. He's my amigo.

Stay 2 legit 2 quit out there.
